My name is Dr. John J. Bonghi and I am a 1964 Cum Laude graduate of Niagara University and a 1968 graduate of SUNY/Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. I completed a general dentistry residency at Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D.C. and I am a veteran of the United States Army Corps. In 1971 I was awarded the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service, the same year I established my practice in Niagara Falls.
I am a former clinical assistant professor at the UB School of Dental Medicine and a former
president of the Niagara County Unit of
the American Cancer Society. I
have served on the Board of Directors of the local unit of the American Red Cross. I currently serve on the advisory board of the dental assisting program at Niagara County Community College and participate in the mentor program at SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. I am a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Society, the Eighth District Dental Society, and a former member of its executive council.
I belong to the Saint Appolonia Guild of Catholic Charities of the Buffalo Diocese. I am a member and past president of the Niagara County Dental Society, a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and a fellow in the International College of Dentists.
I am a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, National Dental Honor Society.
I have always felt that as a professional I had a responsibility to my patients to be current and to further my knowledge and my skills.
Continuing education has been part of my entire dental career and in 1999 I was recognized by the New York
State Dental Society for having completed over 1000 hours of courses. These have included courses at the prominent L.D. Panky Institute in Florida and also the post graduate program in esthetic dentistry at UB.
I feel fortunate to be able to bring to my patients over 34 years of continuing education from which they can benefit.
I serve as a Eucharistic minister at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston, NY. My wife Joan and I have been married for 37 years and have three grown children, Johnna Beth, Christopher and Brandon. We reside
in Youngstown, NY. In my free time I enjoy gardening, skiing, traveling and spending time with my grandson Joshua. I consider dentistry not only my profession, but also my hobby.
