We value each and every patient that walks through our door. Because our
philosophy is based upon thoroughness, we spend considerable time at your first visit getting to
know you and for you to get to know us. We feel
it is important for us to listen so that we can understand
your concerns, wishes and expectations. This allows us to start a
long-term relationship with you based upon mutual respect and
understanding.
The new patient experience is a two-appointment process. Once you
have made your appointment, you will be mailed a packet of information
that includes an introduction to our office and general policies.
Included in the packet are a medical questionnaire and a previous
dental history questionnaire. We ask that you complete these forms at
your convenience and bring them with you to your initial
appointment. The doctor will review these with you and listen to any concerns, dental problems and
expectations you may have.
Believing in thoroughness, we will start with a full set of X-rays. Next a comprehensive
examination will be performed including a thorough exam
of your teeth and gums, an oral cancer examination, and an
evaluation of the occlusion. Depending upon these initial findings,
other diagnostic procedures might be indicated, such as periodontal
probing, study models or a panoramic X-ray. Recently, our office
obtained a laser, called ‘DIAGNOdent,’ which allows us to detect decay before it is evident on X-rays or with a probe. The more information obtained in this initial exam, the more thorough our knowledge and subsequently diagnosis of your oral status can be. Having obtained all of this information and having answered all of your questions, you are rescheduled for a visit in 2 weeks.
At your next appointment, the diagnosis appointment, all findings, recommendations and estimate of fees are presented along with a projected appointment schedule. Having presented this and having answered any questions, you are then introduced to one of our Registered Dental Hygienists who will then take the time to update you on current concepts in proper homecare and perform a thorough cleaning. With that being accomplished and having obtained your consent for treatment, our appointment coordinator will appoint you to accommodate your schedule.
