Restorations

There are many restorative measures we can take to help restore a beautiful smile. Call us to make an appointment if you think you could benefit from one of these procedures.

Crowns

When teeth have been compromised by large cavities or by fractures, they can be reinforced with a crown. These can be accomplished in gold, gold with porcelain, or in all ceramic (tooth-colored) materials.

Bridges

A bridge is a permanent replacement of missing teeth. In this technique, the teeth in front of and behind the space are prepared for crowns and a replacement tooth is then attached to these abutment crowns and united as one piece. This is permanently cemented. It is comfortable and feels and looks like a natural tooth.

Implants

Another method of replacing missing teeth is the implant. In this situation, a metal implant is surgically placed in the bone in the area of the missing tooth. After a several month integration period, a crown or bridge is constructed and cemented to the implant. This gives the patient a permanent replacement without the necessity of involving the adjecent teeth.

Endodontics (Root Canal)

When the nerve of a tooth becomes infected and necrotic, there are only two possible treatments, either tooth removal or endodontic therapy. In root canal therapy, the infected nerve and the contents of the nerve space is removed, disinfected and then filled with an inert material. Since endodontic teeth can become brittle, they are often recommended to be reinforced with a crown.

Extraction

In situations where teeth are extensively decayed or severely periodontally compromised, surgery is the only recourse. Current surgery procedures have improved from the past. Our office will monitor your healing until the surgical site has healed.

When plaque is left on the teeth, it can cause the gums to become inflamed (gingivitis). It can progress further to the underlying bone resulting in the loss of bony support for teeth (periodontitis). Our office offers non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease and in cases with advanced periodentitis, we refer our patients to a qualified specialist.

Removable Prosthetic Treatment

When several teeth are missing, they can be replaced with a partial denture. When all teeth are missing, they can be replaced with a denture. With new techniques and materials, these appliances can now be made to be comfortable, natural-looking and undetectable.
